In the Graduate Level 3 we are focusing on the defenses against weapon attacks. When we talk about the defense against knife attacks and stick attacks, here the main thing is to defend against attacker who is coming from different directions. Practically we are using variations on the basic defenses, using the main principles to deal with variations of the problems. The goal is, and that is what we really teach, is how to solve new problems under stress.
By saying new problems, I mean variations of the problems. The attacker is in different distances, different angles, different directions. Different type of attackers, naturally. We are preparing you, the Krav Maga trainee, to deal with all sort of problems, coming in adverse conditions, in different types of situations. Using family of solutions to deal with family of problems, that’s the idea.
In order to be good, one has to practice. You have to invest time in doing. Punch the card, work, do the things, do the job. Please remember, it’s your duty. Meaning, if something will happen, nobody will save you. That’s the assumption.
By focusing, by doing, you are gaining the powers, you are gaining the capabilities, you are gaining the abilities, you are becoming better. And with this, mentally, you are more prepared to deal with all conflicts of life.
A. Takedowns - Cavalier Leverage on the Wrist Joint
B. Escaping Holds in a Sitting Position (using previous principles and techniques)
C. Defending an Attempt to Throw (attacker coming from front or side)
E. Defense Against Knife Attacks from Various Angles
F. Defense Against Handgun Threats
Attacker launches a second attack during counteractions that the defender is doing against the first.
I. Overcoming Disorientation Caused by an Attack (groggy)
Problem: Defender suffering pain and/or concussion resulting in inability to breath or function, the defender's tendency is to remain in standup fighting.
Solution: Fall sideways, softly to the ground, with legs toward the opponent, counterattack.
Advantage: Taking the initiative recuperates; improving position.
Disadvantage: against more than one attacker; problematic terrain
J. Simulations of Real-Life Situations/Scenarios
Dealing with an attacker outside or while seated in a car.
