Shalom to you. Welcome to this week’s technique review. This time, it’s about sending the hands forward for stopping some attack to come to us. And the pushups, the breakfall forward, that is the soft one. So, imagine something large is approaching you. Something like this will be reasonable to stop it. If it’s too strong, too fast, obviously and I mean the line of attack or channel of attack, I’ll be hurt. But that’s the basic idea we are thinking about sacrificing as if the 10 fingers, the palms in order to protect the major parts of the body, the major more sensitive organs.

So, doing this type of exercise can definitely be a good preparation, a very light one for any type of pushing or absorbing technique. If I tell to myself to sit down, most of us what we will do, we’ll bend, we’ll put the hand and we sit down this way or another way. Stand up, we’ll do one hand and the two hands and get up. You see the palm, the heel of the palm was pushing towards the ground elevating the body. That’s really the basics of the straight strike.

Then if I need to stop myself from hitting the ground, so mother earth wants to give me a head butt and I want to defend myself from this, something like this one will be a reasonable technique. So, a push up is really the exercise but pushup was I’m sure designed or invented or was done later than the soft breakfall forward. In the preparation, how do we teach this; how do we practice this in the beginning? We start with certain understanding of where we should end and that the head should not be close to the ground, something like this not good. Push and up.

By the way, kids, babies will do this one. Very simple because they need two muscles to bring the head up. When you’re more mature, one side would be good enough. So, this is the idea. We have to know where we are. And then some light pushups and deeper ones when the butt up and the pushup that is straight line but from the knees. And every time the head is going sideways, then full pushup, then sending the legs backwards and doing the pushup and then starting from a certain squat and knowing where we go. We go forward and do the breakfall and this can be done from a standing position. Bending and going forward, bending the body, going forward.

We can also do bending the body, sending the legs backwards and land lightly. And obviously falling like timber forward is the last phase in this process. Every time we’re trying to meet the ground with relatively much weight and a straighter body. But the less weight we have on the hands, easy it is to make the breakfall. So, if I have problem to make a good breakfall, I am not powerful enough for example or just a warm up, I’ll bend and send my legs backwards. So, I’m falling from low level. So, I’m really doing this. So, I fell from relatively low; yes.

Later we can do even things like jumping and making a breakfall, timber and making a breakfall. Falling backwards and making a breakfall after rotation. All different methods to become stronger and better with this type of motion. Give an example of a bit of jumping. So, I jump and I make a breakfall.

And remember, we need to turn the head and arch. So, we’ll be protecting the face, the brain, the head as much as possible. The weaker we are, the less strong we are, we’ll have to minimize the amount of weight on the hands. And obviously we can do different drills, like different pushups to become stronger. Push up, disconnect from the ground, with making a clap of the hands. Things like this that are quite famous in the training methods for pushups.Eventually, you want to be able to use explosive power, push yourself stronger, lift yourself higher in the push up. This will transfer into the breakfall that you can protect yourself against higher impact.

Thank you; all the best. Ciao.
