Regular kick backwards, do three distances. The short distance, towards the groin, what we call an uppercut kick backwards. Medium and long range. The hitting part is the back side of the heel below the area of the Achilles tendon. Advancing backwards, either with a stomping or a skipping step, or with backwards crossing. After the first kick, one should be able to continue with series of attacks sideways and front towards the opponent, or just sideways and move away from danger zone.
Hitting target, here’s the example where the partner is putting the target at the correct range and the correct level. Attack with the kick backwards, upwards, and as you land, you should turn towards the target and continue with relevant counterattacks.
Scissor kick, here is the basic drill. With a small step, advance, jump and kick with the same leg. Most of the uses for such a kick is while running towards a target. Here’s the example of running, kicking, hitting the target with the scissor kick, and then continuing with the relevant punches.
